2024 NAFC Gold Rating

Bradley Free Clinic has earned a 2024 Gold Rating from the National Association of Free and Charitable Clinics (NAFC) Quality Standards Program.

“We’re honored to receive this award,” said Janine Underwood, Executive Director of the Bradley Free Clinic. “It reflects the hard work of our staff, volunteers, and board and the trust our patients put in our organization.”

The mission of the National Association of Free and Charitable Clinics is to ensure the medically underserved have access to affordable health care. The NAFC and its members are dedicated to ensuring that patients receive quality health care. To quantify and qualify the care provided at the Free and Charitable Clinic network, the NAFC formalized a set of Quality Standards for member organizations.

Bradley Free Clinic was founded in 1974 and is among the country’s oldest continuously operating free clinics. Current initiatives include an enhanced behavioral health wing, outreach to the Hispanic community, and an ongoing emphasis on serving the needs of low-income, uninsured, and underinsured, residents of the Roanoke Valley and surrounding areas.

NAFC Members voluntarily submit information to the NAFC on the various policies and procedures to attain their standards rating and attest/pledge that they successfully incorporate these standards within their organization.

NAFC Quality Standards elements include policies and procedures related to the following areas: Administrative, Enhanced Access and Continuity of Care, Identifying and Managing Patient Population information, Planning and Managing Care, Providing Self-Care Support and Community Resources, Tracking and Coordinating Care, and Measuring and Improving Performance.

Located at 1240 3rd St. SW, the Bradley Free Clinic provides medical, dental, behavioral health, and pharmacy care at no cost to the underserved through volunteer health care professionals. Many of our volunteers are among the most respected in the field throughout the region. The Clinic has also expanded hours of services with a full-time nurse practitioner and part-time dentist.
