Robertson Behavioral Health Wing

It’s not just a new wing. It’s a new hope.

The William & Margaret Robertson Behavioral Health Wing will be built on our existing facility. This 1,900-foot expansion includes six counseling rooms and group counseling space

While grants will play a role, we ask that you consider supporting the construction of the new behavioral health wing. While the respone of the community has been outstanding, recent shortages of raw materials and inflation have left us with a need to raise an additional $250,000 to complete construction. Please play a part.

People are calling these unprecedented times

For many of us, 2020 has been a time of change, anxiety, and insecurity. For the people we serve at Bradley, this is nothing new. Our patients often wonder where to get medical care and can’t afford their medications. They often struggle with mental health conditions that exacerbate their health conditions. It is not just a 2020 thing, it is an everyday part of life for many people we serve.

We see unprecedented opportunities

We ask that you be a part of our ambitious campaign to meet the challenges for the underserved in the Roanoke Valley. Through this campaign, you can invest in many aspects of our Clinic that will create a more robust healthcare infrastructure

According to the National Association of Mental Illness (NAMI), one in five Americans has a mental illness, and only 40% of those receive treatment. Here in the Roanoke Valley, the 2018 Community Health Assessment identified access to behavioral health services and substance use disorder as the third-highest health priority facing our community members.

Bradley Free Clinic has experienced exponential growth in the demand for our behavioral health services, further exacerbated by the COVID pandemic. The intensified need for behavioral health services is more apparent now than ever as 41% of adults report anxiety and depression due to the pandemic’s isolation and other challenges

Bradley’s behavioral health programs have grown by 300% in the last year. In comparison last year we provided 25 appointments per month; currently, it is not unusual for us to provide 36 appointments in a single day. In addition, we have experienced a 100% increase in new patient registrations during the last year.

Many of the health and dental issues we treat are rooted in behavioral health concerns. Our expanded facility will allow Bradley to bring all the services our patients need – medical, dental, pharmacy and behavioral health – under one roof. It is immensely valuable to our patients to have a comprehensive medical home.

THE TIME IS NOW

These are unprecedented times in our community, but we have unprecedented vision, hope, and drive to meet the needs of the underserved in our community. We don’t know what the world will look like tomorrow or how healthcare will change, be we know that people need our help, just as they have since 1974.

Bradley Free Clinic is committed to health equity. We are here to ensure that everyone has a fair and just opportunity to be as healthy as possible. With the support of of our volunteers, friends and supporters, we have a plan to make an unprecedented difference.
